Linux

We use several distributions of Linux that we tailor to looking very much like Windows.

With Open Office compatibility with Microsoft Office most of the productivity tools that you're familiar with are available - for FREE.

Linux is smaller and faster than all current versions of Windows and therefore is eminently suitable for upgrading older systems with reduced memory and speed although there are many more advantages to Linux used on current state of the art PC's.

Linux is now a truly plug and play operating system detecting hardware on the fly and has compatibility with most common hardware and printers.

Linux doesn't suffer from the same file degradation and memory leaks that Windows does and so is suitable for applications that run continually such as business PC's, file servers, ftp servers, proxy servers etc.

No Virus checker is required, because of the way that Linux runs, unless you specifically require to protect from passing viruses on to other Windows PC's on the network.

Most software is available under the GNU free license, therefore you have no more worries about software expiring or not being able to copy software or share it with your neighbour.

And what's more - the operating system is FREE and doesn't need updating every week to cope with the threats associated with Windows.
